Education Otherwise (organisation)

Education Otherwise (E.O.) is a membership-based charitable organisation that provides support and information for families whose children are being educated outside school, and for those who wish to uphold the freedom of families to take proper responsibility for the education of their children.

E.O. supports its membership through community, information, and promotion. Members receive a contact list of all members, providing them with access to extensive knowledge of and experience in home education built up over 40 years. The website has a dedicated members forum, a quarterly national newsletter and an online local HE groups directory. Members are also supported through the process of setting up new HE groups and are given access to Public Liability Insurance. They are kept informed of all up to date laws concerning home education.

E.O. are committed to raising public awareness that in the UK schooling is not compulsory – education is. They seek to ensure that all parents understand their right to choose the form of education that their child receives. Challenging common misconceptions, dispelling myths, and correcting inaccurate information about home education.

E.O’s work is carried out by a large number of volunteers working within a series of groups and support networks.
